Privacy Notice

At LensLearn, we believe learning should be personal, not invasive. Here's how we handle your data to make the AI smarter for you—and how we protect our youngest learners.

Last Updated: February 25, 2026

0. Our Commitment to Families

LensLearn welcomes learners of all ages—from 5-year-olds exploring the world to adults pursuing new skills. We take special care to protect children and teens, with separate protections for different age groups as outlined below.

1. What We Collect

We collect information that helps us teach you better:

  • Account Info

Your email (managed by our secure authentication provider) to keep your sessions safe.

  • Learning Profile

Your age group and language preferences to tailor the AI's tone.

  • Session History

The questions you ask and the images you analyze.

  • Personalized Memory

For Starter/Pro users, we extract "learning facts" to remember what you already know.

1.1 Children's Privacy (COPPA)

For Children Under 13

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verified parental consent. LensLearn accounts for children under 13 must be created and managed by a parent or legal guardian. The parent's email is used for the account, and the parent has full control over the child's learning experience.

For Teens (13-16) & Global Consent

The age of digital consent varies globally (e.g., between 13 and 16 in the EU under GDPR). Teens can create their own accounts with a parent or guardian's email, subject to their local laws. Parents can monitor activity, set limits, and manage the account. We encourage parents to be involved in their teen's learning journey on LensLearn.

Parent-Managed Accounts

Parents can create a family account where they manage multiple child profiles. This allows parents to:

  • Monitor learning activity across all child profiles
  • Set age-appropriate content filters
  • View and export learning history
  • Delete child profiles and associated data at any time

2. How We Use Your Data

We don't sell your data to advertisers. We use it to:

  • Analyze images and provide educational hotspots.
  • Ensure the AI doesn't explain the same basic concept twice if you already know it.
  • Audit credit usage and prevent abuse.
  • Keep the environment safe and age-appropriate.
  • For children: Ensure all content and responses are suitable for their age group.

3. AI & Third Parties

LensLearn uses Google Gemini to process your requests. While we send the prompt and context to Google, we strive to keep your personal identity (like your name) out of the AI's standard processing flow. We also use secure,third-party payment processors for transactions; we never see or store your credit card details.

For children: We use additional content filters when processing requests from accounts marked as under 13 to ensure responses are always age-appropriate.

4. Cookies

We use "strictly necessary" cookies and local storage to keep your experience seamless:

  • Session Cookies: Provided by our secure authentication service to keep you securely logged in between visits.
  • Preferences: Local storage is used to remember your cookie consent choice and UI preferences.

Because these are essential for the app's basic functionality, they cannot be disabled, but we do not use them for tracking or advertising.

5. Your Control

You can view and update your profile at any time. Depending on your location (e.g., under GDPR or CCPA), you have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification: Correct any inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure: Request that we delete your account and all associated learning history (the "right to be forgotten").
  • Portability: Request your data in a structured, commonly used format.
  • Restrict Processing: Limit how we use your data under certain circumstances.

Data Retention & Deletion

When you request account deletion, we purge your data from our active databases immediately. Backups are securely erased within 30 days. We only retain data past this point if strictly required by law (e.g., for accounting or legal disputes).

Parent Data Rights

Parents have the right to:

  • Review personal information collected from their child
  • Refuse further collection or use of their child's information
  • Delete their child's information and account
  • Request a copy of their child's learning data

To exercise these rights, contact us at team@factolabs.dev with your account details and proof of parenthood.

6. Security

We use industry-standard encryption and security provided by our industry-leading cloud infrastructure partners to protect your data. However, no internet-based service is 100% secure—we encourage you to use unique passwords and stay vigilant.

For children's accounts: We implement additional security measures including limited data retention, enhanced content filtering, and no public visibility of any child data.
